We love travelling up to London to see a show. The problem is I’m never organised enough to book early, when you can get the best seats and prices and tbh I often don’t know what our weekend are going to look like. I’m more of a last minute kind of person.
That’s why I was very excited to learn about the UK launch of TodayTix, which has already revolutionised Broadway and is cleverly helping the theatre industry catch up with mobile commerce.
Created by Broadway producers, TodayTix is a free app for iOS and Android providing customers with this week’s West End tickets at the best prices. Download TodayTix, and within 30 seconds you can book a top West End show. You can purchase tickets 7 days in advance up to one hour before the show starts! With the app covering more than 40 of the hottest shows in London’s West End, this is a very attractive proposition.
To try out the service for the purpose of this review, we took the girls to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for a back to school treat!
We all know Roald Dahl’s best known story: Charlie Bucket wins one of 5 golden tickets and finds himself inside the elusive Wonka Chocolate Factory, run by the eccentric Willy Wonka. It’s a once in a lifetime chance to win a lifetime of sweets, but as the five winners (all with an annoying defaults) wander the sweet factory, all is not as it seems, especially with Wonka himself.
The 1971 film version was a favourite of mine, and I could belt out every tune. While the Musical tunes aren’t as catchy, the stage works are amazing, culminating with a glass elevator soaring high above the audience.
One of the original songs, Pure Imagination, sums up the spirit of the story and is cleverly included in the musical version. While not as spectacular as Dahl’s other West End adaptation, aka Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is an excellent day out and you’ll enjoy a world of pure imagination.
We were given complimentary tickets to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the purpose of this review. As always, all opinions are my own and my family’s.

I love that you can book tickets for a show at the last minute, great way to fill an afternoon and much easier than trying to find a ticket booth etc.

What a great idea! It certainly beats standing in a queue for ages, which is the way that we’ve always bought last minute tickets in the past. I’m glad that you enjoyed the show, it’s one that we have on our list to see at some point.
