My English garden

Garden[1]

There's nothing better than an English garden at the height of summer.

Lettuces[1]

Especially an edible one. These are my lettuces.

Beetroot

And my beetroot.

Peas[1]

Sugar snap peas…

Potatoes[1]

New potatoes.

Makes you want to pull up a lounge chair, grab a book and sip on an ice-cold Pimms, doesn't it?

Lovely photos! I’ve just done a post about my garden project. I’m trying to improve both me and the garden at the same time.

That’s it! I’m not reading another blog that shows people’s lovely gardens, I’m getting too jealous! Only kidding 😉 Wish I was more green fingered… x

    How beautiful!

  7. Antonella | 25th Jun 09

Beautiful! I was going to post a couple of photos of my own garden, but it would look so “poor” compared to yours! Well done. Ciao. A.

And I’m assuming you have your own mint for the pimms? (BTW, are those plastic bags you’re using on your feet instead of wellies or am I imagining things…?)

  9. Caroline | 25th Jun 09

Lovely photos, Susanna. You’re right, there’s nothing better. And Pimm’s …… mmmmmm

Just having a garden or a patch of green at all makes me envious…. but add to that fresh produce… heavenly.

ExpatMum — that’s tonight, it smells like warm lavendar and honeysuckle…

Even better is the smell of an English garden on a warm summer evening. Ah – now I’m homesick!

  13. A Modern Mother | 25th Jun 09

Almost — oh my! Though I have to say it was not a bad slug and snail year. I send the girls out early in the morning with a bag and I give them 5p per snail.

Iota — for you, I have two.
SPD — nothing like early potatoes, and very funny about the bags (I didn’t write about but, but I used them again today). I know I am obsessed.

Love your garden. I’ve learned one big lesson from mine this year….never plant beans and peas next to the huge inpenetrable plant that the snails hide in. 😀
    Now where’s that Pimms?

  16. SingleParentDad | 25th Jun 09

I have really enjoyed our voyage into the good life. Our first early potatoes are lovely, and it gives us time to re-use the bed for carrots and beetroot. Our strawberries are also really good.
P.S. Can’t believe this post was not about plastic bags.

  17. Iota | 25th Jun 09

Pour the Pimms. I’ll be there.

Too Many — it’s what I do in my spare time (hah!)

  19. TooManyHats | 25th Jun 09

    Nummers – fresh produce 🙂

    Melissa — CRUNCH!
Zoo — we have those too, they are just hidden

Beautiful, much nicer than my English Garden which is full of priamry coloured plastic toys, weeds and a blackcurrant bush 🙂

I was not hungry until I looked at your photos. Now I’m wishing for salad and anticipating our sugar snap peas!
    Thanks for sharing your pictures!
