Charity shop bargains: My £5.99 shabby chic coat!

Coat1

What can I say? I love bargains. They always go over well with Scottish hubby too.

In case you didn't see the price tag!

I found this one in an Oxfam shop. They were having a special vintage day. This tan, tweed-like shabby chic LK Bennet coat popped out at me and landed in my hands. The shop assistant winked (yes WINKED) and agreed it was a great bargain.

Coat2Here it is, in situ. On train platform, ready to go into London for a meeting. What do you think?

And the coat inspired my new project. I'm going to try to get a whole outfit (minus underwear and tights, because that would just be gross) to wear to a business meeting. The goal being to get someone to voluntarily compliment me on my outfit. Then I just have to smile and thank them (like the French), and not let on about my bargains.

Think I can do it?

Gorgeous, and all the better for being such a bargain too (and environmentally friendly – recycling) Walk talk and proud – you look great!

I love it I think here in the UK we need to embrace the bargains like they do in the US.

AWESOME! Yes, definitely. I keep thinking I must check out a couple and never seem to remember when I’m near them.

Fabulous. I’m sure you can do it, yes, especially if you go to the right charity shops. I’ve picked up some great bargains – e.g. Monsoon top for £3, Next jacket for £5 – in our local RSPCA shop, but I’m told that, if you go down the road to Nailsworth, you can pick up designer bargains for ridiculous prices. Have yet to try it myself, so can’t confirm. Also, not sure I’d recognise a designer item!

Utterly chic – here’s to that challenge (and couldn’t agree more about the underwear. Even Scots must agree – as one born in Scotland…)

That’s a fantastic coat – especially at that price! Yes, I definitely think you can do it. It’s amazing what people send to charity shops.

    Absolutely you can do it.
I co-run the school’s annual garage/jumble sale (which raises over $50,000 BTW) and you wouldn’t believe the stuff that comes in to be sold. I don’t think I’ve paid more than about $20 for the kids’ winter coats since they were born!

Not so shabby, lady. Very chic.
…and my money is on yes you can do it. 😀
