Prepared to be wowed when you first step foot into the Hotel Grand Teguise Playa!

Prepared to be wowed when you first step foot into the Hotel Grand Teguise Playa. At it’s centre is the expansive open-air lobby – a 6-story high atrium with giant palms and fringed with plants from the different floors. Based in Costa Teguise, one of the 3 areas for tourists, the Hotel Grand Teguise Playa has 320 rooms with stunning views over the swimming pools, Playa del Jubilo beach and the Atlantic Ocean.

We opted for the premium rooms on level 4 – 6, which have been beautifully redone in white and blue, accented with bright modern art. Rooms are big enough for 3 people (with cot) and families can get interconnecting rooms. Each room has it’s own patio with table and chairs, perfect for chilling while watching the sunset over El Jabillo Beach. It’s gorgeous! Leave your patio door ajar and you can fall asleep to the sounds of sea.

The bathroom is clean and compact, with a rain shower and some extras like toothpaste, a real hairdryer which is always good, and plush terry cloth robes and branded slippers. Returning guests are treated to cava in their room!

There’s air con and wifi (you pay extra for it in your room), but it all works!

You can go all inclusive (identified by bands) or half board, which includes breakfast and dinner (or lunch) in the restaurant. It’s buffet style, with lots of choice. Dinner: paella, mussels, cod, beef, pasta, garlic soup, salads. Breakfast: buffet, freshly baked good, hot choices and some Spanish specialties too.

There are two saltwater pools – one heated year-round. The kids pool is freshwater. All are cleaned daily and have lifeguard service from 9 – 6 pm. Towels need a deposit. The hotel has a policy of not reserving sunbeds, and states it will remove items if unattended for more than an hour. But there are plenty of sun beds to go around!

Access to the beach is through a locked gate, and you can rent sunbeams there for a nominal fee (organised separately from hotel). Lots of guests were up early for a dip in the Atlantic!

Nighlty shows keep everyone entertained, with a Mini club for kids 4 – 12 with disco. Entertainment ranges from classico music to flamenco to Mama Mia!

For sports enthusiasts there are 2 tennis courts, squash court, gym. There’s a dive centre next door. You can hire rackets or mini golf clubs at reception. grass football pitch and volleyball pitch behind tennis courts. 2 french bowls, mini golf and shoot range.

Access to Playa del Jubilo beach is through a locked gate behind the pool area. It’s a secluded cove with fine sand and black lava rock. Very stunning!

I remember that hotel! Over 20 years ago my hubby and I stayed at an apartment nearby and used to regularly go to the hotel for a drink in the bar. The bar ( I can see the area in your first set of photos) used to rotate very slowly but I don’t think it does any more, does it?
It was gorgeous then but looks super now it’s all refurbished.

When I’ll get there, I’ll surely have a stay at this hotel.

It’s so refreshing when hotels have a no reservation policy. That atrium and entrance was pretty spectacular!
